Lambs Sussex Wealden Sandstone Coursed Rock Face Walling

Built out of Wealden Sandstone, Buckland House is a Victorian property that had suffered extensive fire damage, requiring one wing of the property to be rebuilt.

Planning and Preparation

Working with the building contractor, Lambs carried out a survey of the building to design and supply the specifications for the new replacement wing in accordance with the architect’s drawings.

We surveyed the existing Façade and prepared Solid Works digital drawings to provide 3 dimentional representations. Our design brief was to incorporate the traditional cavity construction but match into the existing structure as best as possible.

To ensure that the main elevation blended harmoniously with the new wing, we re-used some pieces of demolished stone that were still fit for purpose.

The Build

Further work on the project consisted of designing a suitable Portico for the main Entrance and we prepared a number of various design options to give the Client the best choice. The final design was a galvanised steel structure with stainless steel fixings, entirely designed and manufactured by Lambs.

Lambs Wealden Sussex Sandstone was used throughout this project. This stone weathers from a fine honey colour to subtle autumn shades over time and is the ideal natural product to blend traditional and contemporary building design.
